Is Canon Planning Another Extraordinary Lens?

Canon came out swinging when they entered the full frame mirrorless market, with one of their most impressive lenses being the RF 28-70mm f/2 L USM, the first full frame autofocus zoom lens with an f/2 aperture. This has led many to hope that other f/2 zoom lenses might eventually be offered, and their wishes might come true.

Canon Rumors is reporting that Canon is planning another f/2 RF lens to "complement" the RF 28-70mm f/2 L USM. I have had the 28-70mm f/2 for about two years now, and I can attest that it is an absolutely stunning lens that is capable of things no other option is. It is so fantastic that it has replaced several other primes in my bag and is my go-to workhorse of choice.

The rumored lens' focal length range is unknown, though it is likely to be announced at some point early next year. If I had to guess, I would expect it to be something along the lines of a 70-135mm f/2. Anything beyond 135mm would start to make the lens too heavy and unwieldy for general use, while an ultra-wide angle f/2 zoom lens might end up being a bit too niche to sell well. I could see a 70-135mm f/2 being wildly popular among portrait, wedding, and indoors sports photographers, to name a few. Hopefully, we will hear more soon!

Well 70-135/2.0 was rumoured to be in testing already in 2019. To be honest Alex do you really believe that canon will release this lens right after 135/1.8? Knowing canon for 20 years I can only disagree. What about RF 17-35/2.0 ?Wouldn't that be nice for weddings, astro and landscapes... Even street photography?
